Search effort for Steven O'Brien renewed on 17th anniversary of his disappearance

WHY:

  • On March 20, 1993, Charlottetown, PEI resident Steven O'Brien ended his shift at the Culinary Institute and joined a few friends for a night out on the town.

  • He was last seen on Queen Street alone and was never seen again.

  • O’Brien’s family believes that, if Steven left PEI, he could be in the greater Toronto area.

  • Seventeen years later, the O'Brien family still hasn't given up on looking for their son.

  • "Not a day goes by that we don't think of Steven,” commented his mother, Janet. “Our family is missing a piece of itself, and we miss him very much. We don't know where or why he disappeared, but what is most important to us, his parents, brother and sisters, is to know that he is alright. Steven, we love you, and we miss you. We hope you are safe and happy, and that no matter what has happened, you know that you are always welcome to come home. If anyone has information on our son's whereabouts, please look into your heart and try to understand what it would be like to have a family member missing without explanation. Please Steven, or anyone who knows where Steven is, contact us."

WHAT:

  • On Saturday, March 20th, the 17th anniversary of Steven’s disappearance, the Missing Children Society of Canada (MCSC) is conducting a targeted poster campaign in Toronto and PEI with photo age enhancement, a $10,000 REWARD offering, a direct line of communications to all local authorities and a 24-hour TIP line.
