MVN FAQ

Have questions about the Most Valuable Network?

What is Most Valuable Network?

Most Valuable Network (Valuable Network) allows us to notify users via Facebook and Twitter of missing children in their area, effectively creating the world’s first online search party.

Most Valuable Network allows users to ‘donate’ their social feeds and they will be notified about urgent missing children cases in their geographic area. After a user ‘donates’ their social feed, Valuable Network will automatically post to their social media feed so that all their friends and/or followers can engage in the search for a missing child as well. The viral power or social media enables us to reach hundreds of thousands of Canadians within mere moments of an alert going out.

How often will you be posting?

Rest assured that we will post only the most urgent and time sensitive cases – no more than four or five times a year. We will only use the network for cases in which a Canadian law enforcement agency has evidence to believe that the missing child is in immediate and serious danger.

I don’t want to donate my feed any more. How do I unsubscribe?

Facebook: navigate to your settings in Facebook and use the Apps tab or follow the link here. Find the MCSC MVN application and unsubscribe.

Twitter: navigate to your settings in Twitter and use the Apps tab or follow the link here. Find the Most Valuable Network by MCSC application and click the ‘Revoke Access’ button.

Can I donate any other social media platform?

We currently only support Facebook and Twitter but we’re always looking to expand to better spread the word. Please use the form below to suggest a platform you would like to see as part of the Most Valuable Network.

Will I get all alerts or just ones in my area?

Generally, the network is used for provincially-issued AMBER alerts and Urgent Child Search Alerts (those urgent cases or abductions that do not meet the AMBER Alert threshold) and will be localized to donors that are in that province. Sometimes, however, the alert may be relevant to donors in more than one province and will be sent out accordingly.

We gather your location from your Social Media’s set Current Location. If you have a Canadian city or province set in your profile, you will only receive alerts for those provinces. If we cannot gather your specific location from Facebook and / or Twitter, your location will be set to all provinces. If you change your location at any time in either platforms, Valuable Network will detect this change for any future alerts.

I would like to donate my company’s Facebook Page as well, how do I do that?

Great! If you click the link at the bottom of the donate widget, “Donate your organization’s page,” you will see a list of all your pages that you can donate.
