MCSC tips our hat to the Calgary Police Rodeo Association

Our important work would not be possible without the strong working relationships that we have built with the law enforcement community across Canada and around the world. One example of this strong relationship is the support we receive every year from members of the Calgary Police Service through the annual Calgary Police Rodeo. An amateur competition featuring contestants from Canada and the USA, the Calgary Police Rodeo is the only police rodeo in Canada.

For over 12 years, the Missing Children Society of Canada (MCSC) has been extremely grateful to be one of the charities supported by the Calgary Police Rodeo. In that time, the Rodeo has donated more than $100,000 to MCSC.

This past June, we were honoured to receive a donation of $10,000 from the proceeds of the 2016 Calgary Police Rodeo.

“We appreciate the long-standing contributions of the Calgary Police Rodeo Association,” said Amanda Pick, Chief Executive Officer of MCSC. “The support we receive plays an important role in ensuring we can continue to provide this service.”

Each year, the Rodeo preparation is kicked off with a pub night in the spring which builds momentum to the rodeo event in August. In addition to the rodeo, the family-orientated event includes a children’s carnival, exhibitions and concessions, while in the evening, cowboys and adult spectators enjoy a barn dance featuring country music entertainment.

This year’s rodeo was held Saturday August 12, 2017 at the Cochrane Rodeo Grounds. The event is always a fun day for our team and corporate supporters to connect with the community and raise additional funds for MCSC.

This year, our friends at WestJet joined us at our booth selling water bottles which had been generously donated by Save on Foods Cochrane and Superstore Country Hills.

These funds, together with money raised through our 50/50 raffle and a WestJet ticket raffle, raised around $5,000 on the event day.

On behalf of our team and our searching families, thank you to the Calgary Police Rodeo Association for supporting our work to reunite families.
