Abduction Raises Concerns: MCSC CEO Amanda Pick Emphasizes Importance of Open Discussions with Children
Parents in Strathmore are having critical conversations with their children following a recent abduction incident that has deeply unsettled the community. As local police continue their search for two men suspected of abducting a young girl on Tuesday afternoon, Amanda Pick, CEO of MCSC, underscores the importance of discussing safety measures with children.
According to the RCMP, the child was forced into a four-door, white truck while waiting at her school bus drop-off area. She was subsequently taken to a nearby home but managed to escape. Fortunately, the girl was found safely two hours later and taken to the Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary. The incident has heightened concerns among community members, emphasizing the urgent need for proactive safety discussions.
"While very scary, it's a great opportunity to sit down with your child, or your children, and go through some tips and learning to prepare them, just to feel safe," said Pick.
In response to the abduction, MCSC encourages parents to educate themselves and their children on key safety measures. MCSC offers various resources to aid these essential conversations, helping families create a secure environment for their children. Click Here to Learn More
