MAY 23, 2025 -- The Missing Children Society of Canada (MCSC) welcomes the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) as a partner in the search for missing children.

This partnership is critical because of the reach the OPP has in communities across Ontario. Thanks to their encouragement, more members of the public will be aware of the groundbreaking MCSC rescu app, and can join thousands of other Canadians using their phones as tools of protection by volunteering digitally.

Children go missing every day across Ontario. Too few of us ever know their names. MCSC, with the OPP want to make that change.

MCSC rescu allows the public to subscribe to Child Search Alerts via SMS for urgent missing children cases in their area and provides interactive maps of missing children across Canada. This tool aims to increase community awareness and engagement in the search for missing children, the OPP said in its statement.

"We know that there are thousands of children reported missing in Ontario every year," says Amanda Pick, CEO of the Missing Children Society of Canada. "Most children who go missing don’t qualify for AMBER Alerts. However, they still face unimaginable risks, including exploitation, trafficking, and violence.

"Rescu allows everyone to join in the search and the partnership with the OPP increases the spotlight on a tool that brings missing children to safety faster."

Register for Child Search Alerts through the MCSC rescu app and submit any tips that could help police in the search for a missing child. Every tip is followed up and might be just the piece of critical information. Your tips could mean resolution for a family experiencing the trauma of having a child or loved one go missing.
